Shailene Woodley was born on November 15, 1991, in San Bernardino, California, the USA. Her father is Loni Woodley, and her mother is Lori Woodley. Shailene is an award-winning actress who won Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress for her debut film The Descendants.

As of 2020, Shailene is 28 years old, and she recently split with her boyfriend-rugby star-Ben Volavola. The “Divergent” star opened up about split from boyfriend and said that she wasn’t able to “fully commit.” She said: “I was in a relationship with someone and we were very much on the road to marriage and children … [But then] I realized I was still at an age where I wasn’t able to commit fully. I couldn’t be available to him in the way that I wanted to be. I didn’t fully love myself.”

Shailene Woodley was born in San Bernardino County, California, on November 15, 1991, to Loni Woodley and Lori Woodley. She has a younger brother named Tanner Woodley. Her father is a School Principal, and her mother is a Middle School Counselor.

Woodley spent her childhood in Simi Valley, California. At an early age of 5, she learned acting under Anthony Meindl. She attended Simi Valley High School.

When she turned 15, she was diagnosed with scoliosis, which caused her body spine to curve to sideways. To stop her body curving further, a chest-to-hips plastic brace was used. Fortunately, there were no repercussions, and she was back to normal.

Career

Shailene started her career in 1999- her first movie was Replacing Dad. In 2004, Woodley portrayed the leading role in A Place Called Home. In 2005, she appeared in  Felicity: An American Girl Adventure.

From 2008-2003, she appeared in the main role in The Secret Life of the American Teenager. The year 2011 showed her in American comedy-drama film, The Descendants. Her outstanding work was recognized, and she garnered immense popularity.

Anthony Oliver Scott from the New York Times (American Newspaper) said, “Ms. Woodley…[gives]…one of the toughest, smartest, most credible adolescent performances in recent memory.” For the movie, she was awarded a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture and won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female. People, an American weekly magazine named her one of 12 “Most Beautiful at Every Age.”

Woodley was enlisted in the 55 faces of the future by Nylon Magazine‘s “Young Hollywood Issue.” In 2013, she starred in The Spectacular Now. The same year Shailene bagged Special Jury Award for Acting at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead.

In 2014, she played in  Divergent. The same year, she starred as Hazel Grace Lancaster, alongside Ansel Elgort, in The Fault in Our Stars, based on the 2012 novel, The Fault in Our Stars. The movie was a superhit, with a worldwide collection of over $307 million.

In 2015, Woodley reprised her role in The Divergent Series: Insurgent. She again reprised her role in Allegiant in 2016. In 2016, she portrayed in biographical thriller Snowden.

From 2017-2019, Shailene, alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, played in two seasons of Big Little Lies. In 2018, she played and produced the movie, Adrift. Her commendable work in Adrift bagged her Rising Star Award during the 2018 Deauville Film Festival. In 2019, the world saw her in the romantic drama Endings, Beginnings, and The Last Letter From Your Lover.
